Go Power! Solar and Fifth Town Films; how we became a part of the Gateway to Oblivion.
It may not be the Bermuda Triangle, but a mysterious vortex has pulled the curiosity of filmmakers, Ryan Noth and Tess Girard of Fifth Town Films, into the heart of its bizarre existence. Found in the middle of Lake Ontario, this phenomenon has eerily been linked to a high number of disappearing ships and various other strange occurrences.
Ever the dedicated story tellers, Ryan and Tess have fashioned a 44ft Chris Craft Aquahome houseboat – christened The Doc Holiday – into a floating home, film studio and mystery hunter to venture into the mayhem as part of a documentary project currently titled Gateway to Oblivion. However, powering the multi-purpose floating structure had became a project unto itself.
“We wanted to be able to charge both practical things like lights or phones through the solar, but most importantly our camera and related gear,” says Noth.
Enter Go Power!. Power-packed with 400 watts of solar power and a 2000-watt inverter kit, Noth and Girard have the freedom to charge their camera and production gear, while keeping other appliances and minor electronics fully charged and running.
“Go Power! and their team stepped up to the plate to work with us, and we couldn’t be happier with the results,” says Noth. “We’re excited for our trip this Fall, and the footage we’ll be able to return with. Having the solar system from Go Power! involved will only make life easier during this trip.”
