PRODUCT DETAILS

The Solar Elite was Go Power!'s complete system for extended and full-time RVing: 400W of monocrystalline solar, a 30A Bluetooth PWM controller and the GP-IC-2000 inverter charger — 2000W of pure sine wave AC, a 100A battery charger and an automatic transfer switch in one unit. It has been replaced by the Solar Elite AIC, but many are still on the road. This page keeps the system's specs, manuals and replacement parts in one place for owners.

How the system works

Solar charges your battery bank through the 30A controller. Off-grid, the inverter charger turns battery power into 120V AC for your breaker panel. Plug into shore power or start a generator and it switches over in about 16 milliseconds, passes power through to your panel and charges the batteries at up to 100A with a 3-stage charger and remote battery temperature sensor. Its transfer switch has two 50A legs (240V split-phase), so it works on 50A coaches as well as 30A.

Which version do I have?

Systems sold as part 83296 shipped with two 200W panels and the GP-SB-PWM-30-BT controller. Earlier Solar Elite builds used smaller panels (320W or 380W total) with the same GP-IC-2000 inverter charger, and may have an earlier solar controller. Check the labels on your panels and controller, then open the matching manual under Documents.

Keep it running, or grow it

The 30A controller accepts up to 600W of 12V solar, so a 400W Solar Elite takes one more 200W panel — the 200W Overlander Expansion Kit. To connect the IC-2000 to a PowerTrak™ RV-C network, add the GP-IC-RVC-ADAPTER and its harness. Remotes, Class T fuses, cables and mounting hardware are under Accessories. If the inverter charger needs replacing, the current AIC inverter chargers are listed there too: the AIC-3000-12-DL keeps a 50A dual-leg transfer switch; the AIC-2000-12-SL has a 30A transfer switch.

WHAT IT RUNS

What 400W of solar puts back each day: about 120Ah into a 12V battery on a sunny spring or summer day and about 48Ah in fall and winter, the same rule our RV solar calculator uses (30Ah and 12Ah per 100W per day). Compare that with what your gear draws:

Typical 12V camping dayDaily draw400W of solar (summer)
Weekend basics: LED lights, vent fan, water pump, phone & laptop charging≈ 25Ah/dayCovered daily, also most winter days
12V compressor fridge alone, 24 h≈ 50Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Fridge camp: basics + 12V compressor fridge≈ 75Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Fridge camp + furnace blower (4 h, cold nights)≈ 100Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Fridge camp + TV through the inverter (150W, 3 h) + 1000W microwave, 10 min≈ 130Ah/day≈ 90% in summer — add a 200W expansion panel
Full comfort: fridge, furnace, CPAP, TV through inverter≈ 140Ah/day≈ 85% in summer — add a 200W expansion panel

The 2000W inverter runs a microwave, coffee maker, TV and laptops. A 1000W microwave uses about 15Ah from a 12V battery for every 10 minutes it runs. On shore power or a generator the 100A charger refills the bank quickly; roof air conditioning needs shore power or a generator.

FAQ
Is the Solar Elite still available?

This version, with the GP-IC-2000 inverter charger, has been replaced by the Solar Elite AIC (400W ShadeTech™ solar and the AIC-2000-12-SL inverter charger). Go Power! dealers may still have legacy stock; use Find a Dealer. Manuals and replacement parts for this system stay on this page.

Which manual do I need?

Start with the 2019 system manual under Documents: it covers the Solar Elite layout, parts checklist and wiring diagram. The IC Series inverter charger manual covers setup, charger settings and troubleshooting for the GP-IC-2000; the GP-ICR-50 remote, solar controller and GP-DC-KIT install kit each have their own manual there too.

Will it work on a 30A coach?

Yes. The GP-IC-2000's transfer switch has two 50A legs (240V split-phase), so it works with 50A service and with any 30A service.

Can I add more solar?

Yes, one more 200W panel. The 30A controller accepts up to 600W of 12V panels; the 200W Overlander Expansion Kit includes the panel, mounts and solar branch connectors (SC). If your system has older 160W or 190W panels, call Go Power! support before mixing panels.

Can I connect it to PowerTrak™?

Yes. The GP-IC-RVC-ADAPTER and the GP-IC-RVC-HARNESS connect a classic IC Series inverter charger to an RV-C network, so a PowerTrak™ display can monitor it. Both are under Accessories.

Can I switch to lithium batteries?

The GP-SB-PWM-30-BT solar controller has a lithium (LiFePO4) profile. Check the IC Series manual for the inverter charger's battery-type and charge-voltage settings before switching; if they don't suit your battery, the AIC inverter chargers have lithium charging profiles.

What replaces the GP-IC-2000 if it fails?

The current Go Power! inverter chargers are the AIC series. The AIC-3000-12-DL keeps a 50A dual-leg transfer switch like the IC-2000; the AIC-2000-12-SL has a 30A transfer switch. Both are listed under Accessories. Have a qualified RV technician make the change and size the DC cables and fuse to the new unit's manual.

What fuse protects the inverter charger?

The GP-DC-KIT4 install kit uses a 300A Class T fuse with 2/0 AWG cables. Replacement Class T fuses are under Accessories.

What's the warranty, and who do I call?

Go Power! rigid panels carry a 25-year limited power-output warranty and the solar controller 5 years from the original purchase date; the inverter charger's warranty is in its manual. For help with an installed system, call Go Power! support (part of Dometic) at 1-866-247-6527.
