PRODUCT DETAILS

OBSIDIAN™ Series 9 orders may require additional processing time.

The Go Power! 190W OBSIDIAN™ Series 9 Expansion Kit adds a second low-profile 190W monocrystalline panel to an OBSIDIAN™ kit or any MPPT solar system with spare controller capacity. Nine-bus-bar cells, tempered anti-reflective glass and a 0.6-inch anodized frame match the KIT1056 panel exactly, so the array stays flush and balanced. Adds about 57Ah a day in summer (23Ah in winter). Made in Canada; 25-year panel warranty and a North American support team (part of Dometic).

Built to the standard RV manufacturers install

Go Power! has designed mobile power since 1996 and is the solar brand fitted at the factory by Jayco, Forest River, Thor and other leading RV builders. The panels, controllers, cabling and mounting feet in this kit are the same parts those plants install on solar-equipped coaches, so the kit matches factory wiring and the Go Power! systems already on the road. Part of Dometic.

Series or parallel

With an MPPT controller you can wire two OBSIDIAN™ panels in series (43V open circuit) to cut cable losses on long runs, or in parallel to tolerate partial shade. With a PWM controller, wire in parallel only. Pre-installed solar connectors (SC) make either connection tool-free.

Start with the full kit

New to OBSIDIAN™? The 190W OBSIDIAN™ Kit with 30A PowerTrak™ MPPT controller is the complete starting point. Its 30A controller (SC-DB-MPPT-30-12) is rated for 600W of solar at 12V and supports up to two KIT1057 panels (570W total).

FEATURES
  • 190W OBSIDIAN™ Series 9 monocrystalline panel — 9-bus-bar cells, tempered anti-reflective glass.
  • 0.6 in low-profile anodized frame — matches KIT1056.
  • + ≈ 57Ah per day in summer, ≈ 23Ah in winter; 10.3A at maximum power.
  • Pre-installed solar connectors (SC); bypass diodes in the junction box.
  • Made in Canada.
  • 25-year panel power-output warranty, North American support team (part of Dometic).
WHAT IT RUNS

What 190W of solar puts back each day: about 57Ah into a 12V battery on a sunny spring or summer day and about 23Ah in fall and winter, the same rule our RV solar calculator uses (30Ah and 12Ah per 100W per day). Compare that with what your gear draws:

Figures are for this panel alone; add them to what your existing array produces.

Typical 12V camping dayDaily draw190W of solar (summer)
Storage: parasitic draws of a parked RV≈ 4Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Weekend basics: LED lights, vent fan, water pump, phone & laptop charging≈ 25Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
12V compressor fridge alone, 24 h≈ 50Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Fridge camp: basics + 12V compressor fridge≈ 75Ah/day≈ 76% in summer — add ≈ 100W or run a generator/shore day
Fridge camp + furnace blower (4 h, cold nights)≈ 100Ah/day≈ 57% in summer — add ≈ 150W or run a generator/shore day
Full comfort: fridge, furnace, CPAP, TV through inverter≈ 140Ah/day≈ 41% in summer — add ≈ 300W or run a generator/shore day

Rule of thumb: match panel watts to battery amp-hours (100W per 100Ah) for a bank that recovers from an overnight draw by mid-afternoon. A lithium battery accepts the full charge current; a lead-acid bank should not be discharged below 50%.

FAQ
How many can I add to the KIT1056?

Up to two. The KIT1056 ships with the 30A Dual Bank PowerTrak™ MPPT controller (SC-DB-MPPT-30-12), rated for 600W of solar at 12V: the kit panel plus two KIT1057 panels is 570W. For more, add a second SC-DB-MPPT controller or use the 40A SC-DB-MPPT-40-12 (up to 900W).

Will it work with a non-OBSIDIAN™ system?

Yes. It is a standard 12V-nominal panel with solar connectors (SC). Any controller with 10A+ of spare capacity accepts it; with PWM controllers wire it in parallel with panels of similar voltage.

Does it include a controller or mounts?

It includes the panel with pre-installed SC connectors. Use your existing controller; mounting hardware is available under Accessories.

How much solar does my RV need?

Start with 100W of panel per 100Ah of battery. A single 100Ah lithium battery running a 12V fridge, lights and fans uses about 50–70Ah a day, which 200W replaces on an average day; 400W covers that with margin for cloudy weather, a CPAP or inverter use. A weekend trailer with one lead-acid battery and no fridge is well served by 80–100W.

Flat mount or tilt?

Flat is what RV manufacturers do and it is fine for most owners: simplest, lowest drag, no wind loading. Tilting toward the sun adds 20–30% in spring and fall; the adjustable tilt mount kit under Accessories makes that optional.

Does shade matter?

Yes — a shadow on one cell can cut a panel's output by half or more. Mount away from the air conditioner shroud, antennas and vents, and park with the panels clear of trees when you can.

Is Go Power! the solar installed in my RV from the factory?

Very likely, if your coach is a Jayco, Forest River, Thor or many other brands. Go Power! has supplied RV manufacturers since 1996, so this kit uses the same panels, controllers and connectors as factory solar-prep and solar-equipped coaches.

What's the warranty?

Go Power! rigid panels carry a 25-year limited power-output warranty and Go Power! controllers a 5-year warranty, backed by a North American support team (part of Dometic). Register the product after purchase.
